This week, PopTech kicks off its 18th gathering in the lively coastal town of Camden, Maine. On the constantly buzzing and shifting fronts of technological and social innovation, 18 years is multiple lifetimes. PopTech predates the first technology bubble, reinventing itself and thriving amidst the change.
Rebellion – the theme of the 2014 event – reflects that for PopTech, longevity and durability do not add up to stagnation. But its unique focus on searching for new solutions while repurposing old ones is also reflected in the diversity of its speaker lineup – which ranges from Joi Ito of the MIT Media Lab to General Stanley A. McChrystal, former ISAF commander in Afghanistan, to Dr. Regina Dugan, VP of Engineering at Google. You can see the entire lineup here.
Starting tonight (October 22) and carrying through Saturday morning (October 25) “more than 600 leading thinkers and doers from around the world to share ideas and projects that are shaping the future.” I hope you’ll join us for the live stream of PopTech, which will be managed and distributed by FORA.tv. We’ll help deliver PopTech’s ideas and projects to a global audience defined by their interests and not their proximity to coastal Maine. Please join us for any or all of the sessions, and visit services.fora.tv if you have questions about how it is done.
